Russian-American pianist Oksana Poleshook has a dynamic and diverse musical background. Her musical training started at the age of 7 in Khabarovsk, Russia. Poleshook’s debut performance came at the young age of 17 with the Dalniy Vostok Symphony Orchestra, performing the Saint-Saens 2nd Piano Concerto. She earned a BM degree in Piano Performance, Music History and Theory from Khabarovsk College of Arts, then being accepted to and eventually completing her MM from Glinka State Conservatory in Nizhny Novgorod (Russia). She later earned her DMA in Piano Performance from the University of Memphis S! cheidt School of Music.
A passionate and avid collaborator, Oksana is actively engaged in the fields of solo performance, chamber music and vocal accompanying. Performing internationally, her most recent music appearances include Germany, United States, U.K., Italy, Russia and Austria. She is an honored recipient of the Neustart Kultur grant from the German Federal Commissioner for Culture & Media completing an audio-visual presentation, “Russische Salonmusik” featuring works by Glière and Rachmaninoff. In 2021-2023 she was engaged in close collaboration with the Berlin Kleine Lotte Kinderkonzerthaus. She is a featured artist on both the Centaur (U.S.) and Sky Deck (N.Z.) recording labels. Her writings on music include “Russian Musical Influences of The Five on Works of Debussy” and “Language: Key to Musical Style.” She currently resides in both Berlin, Germany and the United States.
Projects
Oksana’s most recent musical projects include a series of theme-oriented programs of classical music for children featuring works of Mozart, Glière, Khachaturian and Rachmaninoff among others. As a recipient of the Neustart Kultur grant she recorded two piano cycles by Reinhold Glière and Sergei Rachmaninoff for piano 4 hands with the pianist Olga Shkrygunova.
Oksana’s musical project with the German Violinist Rahel Maria Rilling featuring a program of Spanish-American classical and contemporary music was performed across Northern Germany. She is a featured artist on a forthcoming CD-release with Rachel Rolling produced by Skydeck Music (New Zealand).
